About Ubuntu Counseling & Recovery
The philosophical term ubuntu has South African origins. It is typically translated as "humanity" or "I am because we are." At Ubuntu Counseling & Recovery we believe healing happens when we develop connection with others. It is our universal shared value of humanity that allows us to demonstrate empathy and compassion as we strive for individual and collective healing.

Christina Colombo, LPC, LAC, and founder of Ubuntu Counseling & Recovery, has over six years of experience in the mental health field and a previous background in education, I hold a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Regis University. Her education, combined with lived experiences, has profoundly shaped her perspective on the world. She is deeply committed to helping others navigate their personal experiences and understand the broader political and systemic forces that impact their lives—both positively and negatively.

Christina believes in the power of community to confront these realities, challenge the status quo, and raise awareness among those who may not yet fully understand these dynamics. As a woman who has faced her own mental health challenges and who is unafraid to speak out, Christina has encountered adversity that has only deepened her dedication to radical change. This journey has also fueled her compassion and empathy for others who have faced similar struggles. Christina's mission is to support and empower those who, like her, seek a more just and equitable world.

Christina adopts a transpersonal, eclectic approach to therapy, recognizing that each individual's journey is unique. Christina is trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy, specializing in grief, loss, trauma, and substance use disorders. Her expertise is complemented by a Certificate in Death and Grief Studies from the Center for Loss & Life Transition. She also offers Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP), collaborating with Journey Clinical for prescribing services and care coordination.
