Service Description

This foundational addiction training presents models of addiction, defines addiction treatment, presents the National on Drug Abuse (NIDA) principles of effective treatment, outlines various types of addiction treatment and the use of evidence-based treatment approaches, and the competencies required of an addiction counselor and professional readiness for addiction counselors. It also covers addiction counselor credentialing/licensing in Colorado and applicable rules, professional readiness of the addiction counselor, and challenges and trends in the addiction treatment field. This course is a 21-hour course held over three days (live online) or three weeks (self-paced). The live online courses will run each day from 8:30am - 4:30pm.

Cancellation Policy

Registration: Students will register for all courses online through the CAC Classes page. Students are required to be mindful of pre-requisites and ensure they have met or will have met those requirements prior to attending the selected course. If those requirements have not been met, students will not be allowed to participate in the course and will be allowed to reschedule for another course of equivalent value. All courses have a minimum and maximum enrollment set by the Behavioral Health Administration. If the enrollment requirements are not met, the course will be rescheduled. If the course is full, a waitlist will be started and students will be notified accordingly. Cancellations: All cancellations and requests to reschedule require seven (7) calendar days notice to christina@ubuntucounseling.co and must include the course name and order number. Cancellation and reschedule requests received with less than seven (7) calendar days notice will be assessed a $75 administration fee. Attendance: Students are expected to present promptly and on time for all courses in-person and virtual. Virtual courses will be held over Google Meet. Students who have not used this platform previously are encouraged to outreach christina@ubuntucounseling.co prior to the course to ensure the technology works on the device they will be using prior to the day of the course start. Students are also encouraged to login a few minutes early to ensure all technology is working appropriately. Participation: Students are expected to have their cameras on at all times during the duration of the course with the exception of scheduled breaks or approved exceptions as indicated by the course instructor. Students are also expected to be engaged and participatory throughout the course in order to meet course requirements. Students who do not attend the course on time and/or do not follow participation policy guidelines, may be disenrolled from the course and assessed a $75 administration fee to reschedule the course. If a student fails to cancel the course or does not attend the course, the student will be mark as a No Show for the course and will be charged a $75 administration fee to retake and reschedule the course. All classes are nonrefundable. Thus, it is important students understand which courses they are required to take prior to registration.
