Psychotherapy & Addiction Counseling
"The journey of ten thousand miles begins under our feet." - Tao Te Ching
No matter your reason for seeking out psychotherapy, I am dedicated to helping you find your way to better well-being and mental health. In addition to general psychotherapy, I have additional training in supporting those who struggle with substance use and addiction.
Whatever you are struggling with, my philosophy is those issues do not define you and are a part of your life's experience. I leverage person-centered therapy interventions, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and solution-focused techniques to support you in meeting your goals. We can work together to reshape and reframe how those experiences influence you in the present so you can work toward being the person you want to be in the world.
Trauma Therapy
"Trauma is not what happens to you; trauma is what happens inside you as a result of what happens to you." - Gabor Maté
Experiences of trauma can lead to symptoms of anxiety, depression, substance use, chronic pain and illness, sleep disturbances, and potentially post-traumatic stress and complex post-traumatic stress disorders. There are a variety of methods we can use to process those experiences, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy.
My approach is to walk alongside you in this work and let you lead me in pacing and timing. It is important that we create a safe environment and have a strong therapeutic relationship before working on past experiences of trauma.
Grief Counseling
“When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight.” - Kahlil Gibran
Grief and loss are experiences that are both universal and unique to each of us as individuals. Whether you are grieving the death of loved one or pet, a life transition, or other change, I stand firm in a belief that grief and mourning are necessary processes for our well-being and not to be pathologized. We often feel a need to "get over it" or suppress our feelings of grief and loss. I believe grief is something we move through and need a non-judgemental, safe space to express our grief and tell our story. I would be humbled and honored to companion you in your grief experience.
Clinical Supervision & Consultation
“Life as a therapist is a life of service in which we daily transcend our personal wishes and turn our gaze toward the needs and growth of the other. We take pleasure not only in the growth of our patient but also in the ripple effect—the salutary influence our patients have upon those whom they touch in life.” - Irvin D. Yalom
Supervision and consultation are necessary as therapists to ensure we are continually processing our work with clients and focused on development and identification of our growth areas. As a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC), I would be honored to support and supervise clinicians seeking LPC licensure and/or addiction counselor certification or licensure in Colorado (CAT, CAS, or LAC). I am also available for consultation for individuals who are already certified or licensed as addiction counselors or LPCs in Colorado.
